HPYGN Pull Up Assistance Bands Review: The Home Gym Accessory That Helped Me Build Pull-Up Strength
May 23, 2026
Disclosure: I purchased this product myself. This is my honest HPYGN Pull Up Assistance Bands review based on my personal experience using them as part of my home gym setup.
When I started building my home gym, one of my biggest goals was adding equipment that would help me get stronger and improve my workouts.
I recently added a multi-grip pull-up bar to my setup because I wanted more upper-body exercises without needing expensive machines. However, I quickly realized something important:
Having a pull-up bar is one thing. Being able to actually do quality pull-ups is another.
As someone who is still building strength, I needed something that could help me get more reps, improve my form, and gradually build up my ability to do pull-ups.
That is why I purchased the HPYGN Two Foots Pull Up Assistance Bands.
After using them, I can say they have been a great addition to my home gym and have helped me make progress with an exercise that was previously difficult for me.
Why I Bought the HPYGN Pull Up Assistance Bands
The biggest reason I bought these bands was simple:
I needed assistance.
Pull-ups are one of those exercises that look simple but can be extremely challenging, especially when you are still developing upper-body strength.
I wanted to improve:
- Pull-up strength
- Stability
- Posture
- Number of reps
- Overall upper-body endurance
Instead of avoiding pull-ups because I couldn’t do many reps, these bands allowed me to practice the movement with assistance.
That means I could focus on proper form instead of struggling through every repetition.
My HPYGN Pull Up Assistance Bands Review After Using Them
After using these bands, I have been impressed with the quality.
They feel durable and well made, which is important because resistance bands take a lot of tension during workouts.
I currently weigh around 190 pounds, and the resistance provided has been enough to help me get a good workout while still challenging myself.
The goal is not for the band to do all the work.
The goal is to provide enough assistance so you can complete the movement properly and build strength over time.
That is exactly what these have helped me do.
Building Strength and Improving Pull-Up Form
One of the biggest benefits of using assistance bands is that they allow you to practice the full pull-up movement.
Without assistance, beginners often struggle with:
- Proper form
- Controlled movement
- Completing enough repetitions
The bands help bridge that gap.
For me, they have helped me get more reps in while focusing on:
- Better posture
- Better control
- Proper technique
Over time, this is what helps build the strength needed to eventually perform unassisted pull-ups.
Pairing These Bands With a Pull-Up Bar
I purchased these bands to use with my home gym pull-up bar.
If you are interested in the setup I use, check out my KAKICLAY Multi-Grip Pull Up Bar Review.
The pull-up bar gives me the ability to perform different exercises, while these assistance bands help me actually perform those movements at my current fitness level.
I think this combination works really well for beginners or anyone trying to improve their pull-ups.
A great piece of equipment is only useful if you can actually use it.
Quality and Durability
The HPYGN bands feel like a quality product.
They do not feel flimsy, and I feel comfortable using them during workouts.
The fabric feet and knee support design help make assisted pull-ups more manageable compared to simply looping a traditional resistance band around your legs.
Since I mainly use them for pull-ups, I cannot speak to every possible exercise application, but for their intended purpose, they have performed well.
The One Issue I Ran Into
The only issue I experienced was related to my own setup.
I have taller-than-average ceilings in my home, around 9 feet, which means my doorway pull-up bar sits higher than most standard setups.
Because of this, the assistance straps do not quite reach low enough for me to comfortably get into position.
I use a small step stool to get into the straps.
However, this is more of a “my house has taller doorways” issue rather than a problem with the product itself.
For a standard doorway height, I do not think most people would experience this.
Who Should Buy the HPYGN Pull Up Assistance Bands?
Beginners Learning Pull-Ups
This is probably the biggest group I would recommend these for.
If you are struggling to do pull-ups, these bands help you practice the movement while building strength.
People Trying to Lose Weight and Build Muscle
Strength training is a major part of improving fitness.
These bands make pull-ups more accessible, which can help people stay consistent with their workouts.
Home Gym Owners
If you already have a pull-up bar, these are an excellent addition.
They allow you to get more use out of your equipment and continue progressing.
Are the HPYGN Pull Up Assistance Bands Worth It?
In my opinion, yes.
For someone starting out or someone who struggles to get many pull-up reps, these bands provide real value.
They help you train the movement, improve your posture, and build strength over time.
I think a lot of beginners buy equipment and get discouraged because they cannot perform the exercise yet.
These bands solve that problem.
They allow you to start where you are and improve from there.
